Thanks for stopping by! It's been awhile since we've updated anything on our page so I thought I would visit to make a news announcement. Rumors about Red Number 40 breaking up are just that, Rumors. We have written a few new songs over the past couple of months and are trying to make sure we write a new one each time we get together. With the addition of a few "studios" popping up around us, we will hopefully, FINALLY, start the recording process in the not so distant future. As you may have obviously noticed, we are not playing any shows. Not that we are boycotting playing shows, we just feel it's best to finally concentrate on writing new material. If you would like us to play at your Bar Mitzvah or Pool Party in January, we'd still love to. We're just not out there like we used to be trying to play shows every weekend.
Hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Holiday Season!
Greg Made

We want to thank Marshal for organizing such a great event last Friday and for such a good cause. He really had everything taken care of and we hope this is the start of more events.
In the traffic on Route 13, red number 40 was able to write and practice a new song. Honest, red number 40 has a new song!! Mark apologizes for calling Artificial Reason No Vacancy and thanks the guys for being good sports. We also made friends with All Your Might, even though their website isn't working right now. Also, thanks Jordan for sharing your secret for monster tone.
5/17/2005
We had a great time at the Delaware Marathon, except for the car accident. Other than that, things went well and we'd like to thank Wayne Kursh for setting it up, Hyzer for providing sound, and all our friends for coming out. Greg got to try out his new cabinet and Chris continues to give dangerous drumsticks to children.
3/30/2005
Looks like the New Journal likes us, we were the only band mentioned and pictured in their blurb about the DE Music Fest. Check it out here
3/5/2005
Greg worked really hard this week to bring this to you - with others.
Today at 3pm, March 5th!
Art Museum Steps
Philadelphia PA
2600 Ben Franklin Parkway
Thank you to all those who helped get the DJ's of the Y-staff together for the big announcement!
2/28/2005
The support for Y100rocks.com has been great, keep it going.
UPDATE: On March 5th, Greg is helping to organize a demonstration in Philadelphia. We have been getting the word out to bands that only Y100 will give air time to, Taking Back Sunday, Pilot Round the Sun, Weezer (yes, Weezer), and many more. Feel free to write Greg at greg@rednumber40.com for more suggestions.
2/25/2005
Hey everyone! Thank you for stopping by. Today is a sad day for the Philadelphia Radio Music Scene. We lost our last modern rock format station, Y100. There is a petition at Y100Rocks.com to bring the station back to regular format.
Please do what you can to help give our community back a station that provided not only music, but charitable acts for our neighbors.
Thank you Y100 for the good years.

Voting is still going on at the Western Tread Records site, the poll will probably only be open another day or two. For those who don't remember, the winner of this vote will be on a compilation CD to be released world-wide next year. I know with all the members on this list we can win this, just tell your friends and coworkers to go vote too.
The process to vote was a little more complicated than we guessed, so here's a step by step guide to helping red number 40 win:
Just so you know, you must be logged in to vote and if you post a reply without voting it doesn't count for us (though we really appreciate all the nice things everyone has said about us in the forum!)
1/31/2005
Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and came out to the show last night. Special thanks go to The Stand In for making the trip when they had another gig, Mundo Rojo for being flexible with the schedule, and Centerview for rocking the house.
Thanks to everyone who has been voting for us here. If you have a problem voting, please let us know (you have to register first).
1/27/2005
A call for help...
Red Number 40 is honored to be considered for Western Treads' worldwide compilation CD. Voting is going on now until the end of January, so we need fans to act fast.
Go to: Western Tread
You must sign up for the forum in order to vote. This process will take about 30 seconds. For those of you unfamiliar with Western Tread, the label is owned by Jimmy Eat World front man, Jim Adkins.
We appreciate your time, and look forward to seeing you at Fennario's on Saturday. Come celebrate Greg Made's birthday with us.

Pics from First Night are up. Let's just say we were very limited in our ability to take pictures that night.
1/2/2005
Thanks everyone for making First Night great! If we hadn't been kicked out of the MBNA building, we probably would have stayed all night.
12/13/2004
On Saturday we visited the new studio in order to gear up for the First Night show. The band is sounding great and we're all excited to be playing again. If you're looking for a good time on New Years Eve, First Night in Wilmington is always an awesome time. Hope to see everyone there!
12/11/2004
The studio lives...
If you can get in the forums check out the new pics.

red number 40 as a 5 piece...
Once again we had a great time at Kahunaville.
It was great involving Ross (the stage manager) and Eric (Pat's friend) by getting them onstage to sing a couple of songs. You missed it; they were great and loud!! We (unknowingly) insulted a Sublime cover band as well. We apologize if any feelings were hurt.
Thank you friends and family for coming and being a part of the action. I will not forget the mosh pit started in the front of the stage by those unruly kids.
Thank you Kathy for setting up a show of this magnitude. There were so many bands, so much action, and everything seemed to go really smoothly.
7/25/2004
We had a great time at the Delaware State Fair. Mark apologizes to anyone he might have offended; he was in rare form.
Thanks to the fair for having us, the Wilmington News Journal for their article and continued support, and the Key of DE and 96 Rock for the publicity.
6/14/2004
Sorry to slack off on the news...
We had a great time playing Kahunaville. A big band thank you goes to everyone who showed up and to Kathy for setting up the show in the first place. We also want to thank Drew from Made who filled in on drums on short notice. He brought a lot of energy and he only made fun of Greg twice, which is pretty good don't you think?
4/19/2004
The Delaware Music Fest was a lot of fun, thanks to everyone who came down to see us. Sorry we didn't have a merch table set up, that should be rectified next week. The Brand New show was also great, I'm glad we got to see that.
4/2/2004
We want to thank Gordon and Joseph and everyone else at Film Brothers for letting us share the Getting Even experience. Keep us posted on all of your upcoming projects.
As for the night, the movie was funny, weird, and disturbing. On a side note, it wasn't cool having old people pelt us with junior mints when "I Moved" started playing though. Come on, we were excited!
It's too bad Justin, our first drummer, couldn't make it to the show. Apparently his "demons" haven't left him yet, and we only hope that he makes a speedy recovery and that he leaves the farm animals alone...especially the large ones.
2/10/2004
All those who are coming to our show on Wednesday, print out this ticket, and get in free!
(Just change the date, and change the band, really it's no problem, we're just too lazy to change it for you.)
The film is a comedy involving senior citizens and violence. No band has had a less relevant stance on senior citizens and violence than red number 40, and you now have a moral obligation to see this movie.
Click on the Film Brothers link for show dates, the after-party, and more about this independent film company.
I hope I haven't given too much away.
2/6/2004
Happy Birthday toolmonkey!!
1/29/2004
Happy Birthday Memphis!!
1/5/2004
Sorry for everyone who saw we had a show scheduled for this Thursday and wanted to come see us. Due to several illnesses in the band (boy, we are a sickly bunch), we had to cancel. Expect us to make our triumphant return to the DE music scene sometime in late January/early February.
1/2/2004
First Night went great, this was our best show in about a year. The crowd pretty much filled the room and were into the music. The sing-along and crowd participation for "My Car" and "I Moved" will definitely be posted as an mp3 on the site soon. Plus, we sold plenty of t-shirts and cds after the show. If any of you were at the show, write us and let us know what you think. Send us some suggestions of places we can play near you, no
matter how weird the venue.
After tonight's performance, all are invited to attend the Red Number 40 after party/New Years bash. The party will be at "the 915". Otherwise known as 915 Devon Dr. Newark, DE 19711, for anyone needing to mapquest it. Come on by and have a good time, ALL AGES, all are welcome.
12/16/2003
All those who are coming to our show on Wednesday, print out this ticket, and get in free!
Who loves ya? red number 40!
12/10/2003
We just got back from performing at a showcase for First Night. The showcase was taped to be broadcast on WITN Ch 22 in DE, it should also be broadcast in the Philadelphia area as well. As soon as we know more, we will post the dates and times that you can watch us and several other First Night performers on TV.
12/4/2003
We finally have T-Shirts! I just picked them up today, they will be for sale at our upcoming shows for really cheap, like $5-6. They have our logo and cover band slogan: "How can you be a fan of a cover band", so buy one and annoy a cover band next time you hit the bars.
We were written up in Out & About, it was a nice story that covered our music as well as the cover band thing. I just wish they had edited out all the "likes" from my quotes. It makes me sound, like, stupid or something.
We also played at a press conference today for Wilmington's First Night, footage from that might turn up in the news soon. We'll be taping a song or two next week at WITN (Ch 22) to promote First Night as well. Once we know when it will be broadcast we'll let you know.
Hey, Cover Band was on the radio! Apparently WSTW snuck us in the Hometown Heroes program and none of us got to hear it. So if anyone was listening, we'd love to know what they said about the song.
Thanks to everyone who came to see us at Brenner's Brew, the show was a lot of fun and we are glad we got to meet some new people. We just got booked for a show this Saturday at M.R. Docs in Delaware, come see us play with No Vacancy and Twin Alarms.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We'd especially like to thank everyone who has helped red number 40 get where we are right now, the band has come very far in just the past few months and we couldn't have done it without all of you.
The Cover Band Contest is still running, go to the forums and check out some of the replies we have gotten. We've even had a few cover bands write in, how cool is that?
In honor of our upcoming CD release of Cover Band, we've decided to run a little contest for everyone in the forums. What we would like everyone to do is post your favorite cover band story; something amusing, entertaining or just the time a cover band really pissed you off. In a few weeks we will pick a few of the best and send out some free CDs, t-shirts, etc.
Feel free to post as many times as you like. You can only win once but each story increaces your chances of winning.
Recording is going very well so far, we've already recorded drum tracks for "Cover Band", "The Point", "Postcard", "Rock Song", as well as a new version of "Trucks". We'll be working on bass and guitars this weekend.
We've also posted some new pictures of the band, a few from shows, and some from our recording session. Check them out on the pics page.
The crowd is really picking up at Kahuna, apprently word has gotten out about red number 40 and "Cover Band". Last night was the best response we have ever gotten for that song, no thanks to Mark's updated intro and improvised lyrics. He's a regular Eminem when we give him a mic. If only there was free-style pop music.
For the curious, Mark has managed to slip in a few jokes and nods about certain area cover bands as well as using a bit of their setlist to introduce the song. Too bad the cover band ducked out before they heard our set.
Due to overwhelming demand we will begin recording "Cover Band" tonight, we've set a deadline to have it finished by the 17th. After that we'll post mp3s on the site and have CDs for all of you, maybe even a special "Cover Band Contest" as soon as we think of something good.
We dropped by the open mic at the Kahuna Tuesday to check it out and I am glad we did. It seems like "Cover Band" is becoming quite a hit there. We also saw some really good performers/bands like Brene Wilson, The Spinto Band and Jeffrey Cundiff. I think we'll be attending more frequently, so drop by on a Tuesday after 9PM to see us.
First off- a big thank you to Vicki Walls for having us down to the Dewey Beach Music Conference. It was great Sunday seeing how personally affected she was by these conferences, and it gives us that warm fuzzy feeling for knowing her.
We also thank the people we got a chance to talk to while we were down there. Whether it was a producer of a band we listened to growing up, an owner of an independent record label we'd like to be considered for, an owner of a venue we'd love to play in, a band we exchanged CDs with, or someone else just involved or interested in music, we always felt welcome and encouraged to ask questions, give opinions, and get advice.
Thank you to our friends and family that were able to make the big trip down for our show on Thursday. We had a great time playing and it was good to see Justin again (that makes three in a row now!!). An even bigger thanks goes out to those who gave Greg, Tim, Chris and me all kinds of feedback needed to help us out. Keep it coming, we can take the pain!!
Thanks to Melissa and Rachel who allowed the band to crash at their place. They are the most wonderful hostesses ever, even if they like the Billionaire Boys Club better than us!! (Take a look, you two made it into another forum post - they only gave you free CDs!)
Thanks Drew from www.themadeband.com for coming down to play drums on Friday. We're sorry that didn't work out, it would have been a blast. We will find a parking lot!!
So did anyone catch WSTW's Hometown Heroes show tonight? They kicked off the show with our new song "Disaster". If you want to hear it again, go to their site and email them. We will post mp3's tommorow, just as soon as I get some sleep.
9/19/2003
Last night sure was windy, though it wasn't nearly as bad as the news made it out. I hope everyone got through it ok.
Mark and I worked hard through the storm to finish recording and mixing our new 3 song sample CD. This is all newer songs, some that have only been played a few times at shows. We will have them available down in Dewey, and I will put some clips on the web site. This is some really good stuff, if I do say so myself, they are much better recordings than our last 3 CDs and I feel the material is much stronger as well. Once you hear the CD, we'd love to hear your thoughts.
Mental Note: Check the summer festival schedule before booking shows. Apparently last night was the same night as the Warped Tour, so all the local skaters were rocking out to the punk bands in Camden instead of hanging out in Bridgeton. Reminds me of last year when we got booked at a semi-popular hard rock bar the same night as the Ozz-fest. Oh well, live and learn.
And ironically enough, the shows that are dead always end up being some of our best. Personally I had a lot of fun and I thought we were very tight and pretty energetic considering we only had a handful of people in the audience. Residents of Bridgeton take note - we will be trying to return to Brenner's Brew at least twice this fall. I hope you can all come see what you missed then.
We also met a new band that we hope to play some shows with either in PA or DE soon. They are Outlet, they rock pretty hard in the vein of Sunny Day Real Estate and other early emo bands. As soon as I get a link to their web site I'll put it up.
The State Fair was a lot of fun, thanks to everyone who came down to see us and to all the new fans we met at the fair. I am definitely looking forward to playing down that way again, everyone was very nice. Shows like that remind me of exactly why I work so hard to do this. All it takes is 2 or 3 people who really enjoyed our music to make the whole thing worthwhile.
We've got one more show in a few weeks, then a bit of a break. As always we are looking for suggestions of places to play, especially all-ages venues. Send us an email with your ideas.
red number 40 entertains an intimate crowd at Fennarios. With Greg helping out the Eliza Letters, red number 40 took the stage as a three piece and tried out some new material to an enthusiastic crowd at Fennarios. With the longer set, we really enjoyed not being rushed and interacting more.
Mark regrets upsetting any members of a cover band with some off-handed comments. The comments should not be taken personally but as more of an assault on cover bands as a whole. (Yeah, that should make it all better.)
We look forward to taking a little time off to record and prepare for the Delaware State Fair in late July. Thanks for all your support!!
6/16/2003
First gig as a four piece. red number 40 took the stage at Doc Watson's for the first time as a four piece adding Greg Boulden from Made on guitar and backing vocals. We got a lot of positive feedback in our quest for the "wall of sound" and managed to sit through watching ourselves on video the next night at Chris' house.
Incidentally, Chris Brisiel plays a mean game of chess and is not to be trifled with on a night where the Devils win the Stanley Cup.
5/16/2003
Last night was a lot of fun, I hope we get to play Epoch again soon. The stage setup was really nice, sound was good and we even had a light show. Thanks to Jay at JNI Entertainment for booking us and doing such a good job on lights. We'd also like to thank Dan for taking the awesome pictures you see on our pics page. I want to send them off to a magazine or something.
For those of you who weren't there, you missed the best version of "My Car" we have played to date, with Greg Made on backing vocals no less. But no worries, you'll get to hear it again in June.
What a show last night!! It’s hard to know where to begin- red number 40 blowing out the PA system mid-set (only to have A Year to Forget blow it out during their set), Tim’s bass rig causing the lights to dim during “My Car”, Chris running into Stewart Ebersole II (7ft. bassist from such previous bands as Lucky and Railhed). (Incidentally, Guitar-tech wants to know what happened to Stewart’s dreds!!)
All in all, it was a very successful night in West Chester, and the residents are very glad that the brown out caused by both bands seems to be over for now. Thanks to everyone who came to see our set, participated during the sing-along, and hung around to talk with us after. Anyone blinded by Dan’s new high-tech camera should contact us and we’ll give you a CD. (What did you expect, Tim to give away bass gear?)
4/27/2003
We weren't expecting much from the Pop Fest after the horrible weather and low turnout on Friday night. But, highlights did include meeting Lisa, our biggest fan at the beach. Thanks go out to her for organizing some people to come out and see us Friday night, and perhaps putting in a good word to give us the chance to play Saturday as well.
Saturday's show turned the whole thing around for us. The crowd was much larger, we were on a better stage and the sound was better. To top it off Justin, our assistant drummer from two weeks previous, made a return to the stage. All in all we felt more energetic and connected to the crowd, Mark even organized a sing-along during "My Car".
The other bands were good, Ike played a great set and Pepper's Ghost put on an act worthy of your favorite 70's arena show.
Thanks to everyone who came and made the show special for us, we hope to see you again soon.
The DE Music Fest was a total blast, there were a ton of great bands and the crowd got really into our performance even though we played pretty early in the night. We are only sad that prior obligations prevented us from staying to see the second day of bands.
Some of the highlights that you should all check out are The Elk Tones (bitchin' surf rock), Omni Soul (hints of Jeff Buckley), Petland (power-pop with some wild guitar effects), Cliff Hillis (Philly based power-pop) and Ike (former lead singer of the Caulfields new band with a bass player who had enough low end to make me jealous :)
Thanks to everyone who came, if anyone who was there wants to post any thoughts on the night, feel free. A special thanks to Justin, our assistant drummer for the night.
Ok everyone, we have a huge favor to ask, we are trying to get booked at the Harmony Grange on Saturday, April 12th, opening for onelinedrawing. What we need everyone to do is vote for us here and email the show organizers saying you'd like to see us play an all ages show in Wilmington.
3/21/2003
We have begun organizing an all-day music festival to take place in May or June of this year called Delapalooza. Check out the site and send us feedback, ideas or demo CDs. We are organizing this show with the band Made.
3/18/2003
Thanks to everyone who came to the Barn Door show. We'd also to thank Brene Wilson of 302 Music for coming to see the 3 bands and posting a review of the show.
2/27/2003
Wow, this has been the best week for the band in a long time. The show at the West End was great, thanks to everyone who braved the weather to come see us. We also met one of the members of R3, who we hope to play a show with soon. Check them out, they are really good.
We also found out we have been booked for the Delaware Music Festival, the Dewey Beach Pop Fest and the Delaware State Fair. There should be lots of great bands there and good crowds so we are all very excited.
1/12/2003
We were picked to be included in Toast Promotion'sBattle of the Bands (see above) along with our friends in the band Made. We have to get 12 people to come down to Smyrna, DE on Thursday, February 6th. We will be running a car pool or renting a van, so contact Tim if you would like to go. The winner gets a music video, so come support us and Made.
1/2/2003
First Night was awesome, we'd like to send out a special thank you to everyone in the crowd who made it great. Check out the forums and post your thoughts on the show, or anything else you want. We are also trying to set up more all ages shows; if you have any suggestions, contacts, or anything else, email Tim.
12/23/2002
red number 40 unplugged was a big success, we might have to do that more often (with Chris of course). We've got a bunch of plugged shows coming up though.
12/16/2002
Some big news this week, our CD was reviewed in Big Shout Magazine. We've also been picked to play at this years First Night Celebration in Wilmington. Check out our shows listing for more info. We've also found out we are still getting played occasionally on WSTW, so call or email Johnny B and ask him to play "My Car".
11/26/2002
In case you hadn't noticed, we've got a great new site design, thanks to Dan Baxter. We also added forums to the site, check them out and post about red number 40 or other local bands. We've also got a Saturday show at the Ground Floor coming up, make sure you come check us out.
11/20/2002
Our first show with Chris went great, according to all 10
of you who were there. Mark's new guitar rig is pretty impressive too, everyone
should come to one of the upcoming shows to see it.
11/12/2002
red number 40 has found a new drummer, his name is Chris
Brisiel and he is a veteran of bands such as No Escape and Seven
Gone. You can see Chris play very soon at one of our upcoming shows.
8/2/2002
Well, we didn't win the Battle of the Bands, but everyone who attended knows who rocked the most. Keep checking back for updates on our next CD and our quest for a new drummer.
7/24/2002
Ok, its official, we are playing the Battle of the Bands at the Big Kahuna in Wilmington on Thursday , August 1st. Show starts at 8pm, we need everyone there for support. Bring this ticket with you for half off admission and a free CD. You can print out as many tickets as you need. Check out the shows page for more info.
7/22/2002
As you may have heard, red number 40 needs a new drummer. If you are a drummer, or you know any, please check out this page for more info and contact us.
7/20/2002
Today's show was cancelled, we just foud out at the last minute. Hopefully we will have another DE all ages show soon.
7/18/2002
Ok, this Saturday's show is IN Iron Hill Park off old Baltimore Pike in Newark, it will have 4 cool bands (including us), and you all should come out.
7/15/2002
The Pirate's Den was a lot of fun, Penetration Theory was pretty cool. And the trip to Atlantic City afterwards was crazy. Hope to see you all Wed or Saturday.
